Darlington Hire & Tyre

A local machinery hire and tyre business with no website. We built one that gets him found, shows off his work and turns visitors into calls and enquiries. He keeps it up to date himself, from his phone.

The brief

A busy local tradie with no website

Darlington Hire & Tyre does machinery wet hire (machine plus operator) and tyre fitting around Darlington, VIC.

The business

Wet hire means he brings the machine and runs it: a tracked mini loader with a trencher, stump grinding, augers for post holes and general earthworks, for jobs within 100 km of Darlington. He also fits tyres, from new tyres to puncture repairs.

Customers had no easy way to find him online, see what the machine can do or check when he might be free.

What he needed

  • To be found by locals searching for hire or tyres nearby
  • To show the work with real photos of real jobs
  • To get enquiries: calls first, plus a simple quote form
  • To update it himself from his phone, without a computer or calling us for every change
What we built

Everything a local tradie site needs

A fast, mobile-first, 6-page website, built and set up for him from start to finish.

Fast, mobile-first site

Six pages, designed for the phone first: home, machinery hire, tyres, gallery, contact and a thank-you page. Lightweight and quick to load, even on country mobile signal.

Click-to-call everywhere

Every phone number is tappable, and a sticky call bar sits at the bottom of the screen on mobile, so calling him is always one tap away.

Enquiry form to his inbox

A short quote form (service, preferred dates, job details) that emails straight to his inbox, sent from his own domain.

Service area map

A map of Darlington on the homepage, with his service area (anywhere within 100 km) spelled out, so customers know straight away if he can get to them.

Machinery hire & tyre pages

Separate pages for wet hire (trenching, stump grinding, augers, earthworks) and for tyres, each with clear calls to action.

Self-managed photo gallery

A job gallery he updates from an app on his phone's home screen. Photos are resized automatically and location data is removed before they go live.

Availability calendar New

Customers can see at a glance which days are booked or free. He updates it from the same home-screen app as the gallery.

Google-ready basics

A sitemap, a clear title and description on every page, and share images so links look good when they're posted on Facebook or sent by text.

Domain, SSL & hosting

His own .com.au domain, free SSL security (the padlock) and fast, reliable hosting on Cloudflare.

Headline feature · Availability calendar

An availability calendar, updated in seconds

The first thing most hire customers ask is “When can you come?” So we're adding an availability calendar to the site, managed from the same home-screen app as the gallery.

  1. Tap a dayHe taps any day in the app to mark it.
  2. Pick a statusBooked, part day or unavailable. Days he doesn't mark show as free.
  3. It's liveThe calendar on the website updates straight away.

Customers can only view it. It isn't a booking system: it gives people a quick idea of when he's free, and they still call or send an enquiry to lock in a job.

What customers see
Built for his phone

Built for his phone, and his customers' phones

People looking for a tradie are usually on their phone, often standing in a paddock or next to a flat tyre. He runs the business from his phone too, so every part of the site was designed for a small screen first.

Quick quote form

For customers

Big tap targets, one-tap calling, swipeable full-screen photos and a quote form that's quick to fill in with your thumb.

For him

The gallery and availability calendar live in one app on his home screen. He doesn't need a laptop, he stays signed in, and he never has to wait on us for a simple update.

For his data plan

Photos are resized before upload and pages stay lightweight, so the site is quick on patchy country signal.

Enquiries

Enquiries straight to his inbox

The contact page puts his number front and centre, with a short form for people who'd rather write: name, phone, the service they need, preferred and finish dates, and job details. Each enquiry lands in his email inbox, sent from his own domain so it doesn't look like spam.

His contact details, hours and 100 km service area sit right beside the form, so customers have everything they need in one place.
