- Sarah
- Thanks for calling Smith Plumbing, this is Sarah. How can I help?
- Caller
- Hi, my hot water system's leaking. There's water pooling underneath it.
- Sarah
- Sorry to hear that. Is it a steady leak or a slow drip? And is the water anywhere near power points or your switchboard?
- Caller
- It's a slow drip, and no, it's outside, away from anything electrical.
- Sarah
- Okay, that sounds like it can wait until the morning. If it gets worse or starts flooding, turn the water off at the mains and call back straight away, and I'll alert Dave. Would you like me to book a time?
- Caller
- Yes, please.
- Sarah
- I can do 8 am or 1 pm tomorrow. Which suits you better?
- Caller
- 8 am, please.
- Sarah
- Lovely. Can I grab your name, and your suburb and postcode?
- Caller
- Emma Clarke. Brunswick, 3056.
- Sarah
- Thanks, Emma. Is the number you're calling from the best one to reach you?
- Caller
- Yes, that's fine.
- Sarah
- You're booked in for 8 am tomorrow in Brunswick for the leaking hot water system. I'll text you a link now. Pop your street address in there to finalise it. Anything else I can help with?
- Caller
- No, that's great. Thanks!

- Availability calendar. Tap the times you're free and how many jobs fit. Booked slots disappear, so there's no double booking.
- Book or just take details. Choose whether Sarah books into your free times, or takes the job details for you to confirm.
- Jobs and messages. See every booking, job request and message in the owner app, plus a log of each call.
- Modes. Normal, On holiday (no bookings until you're back) or Day off (back tomorrow). Change it with a tap.
- Business hours (optional). Outside your hours Sarah uses an after-hours greeting, and you can hold after-hours texts until the morning. Emergency texts are never held.
- Personal contacts. Family and mates skip the job questions. Sarah takes a quick message and texts you to call them back. Import them from your phone's contacts.
- Emergencies. You're alerted straight away and the caller gets a safety tip. Anyone who may be in danger is told to get to safety and call triple zero (000).

How setup works
- Choose your package and pay the one-off setup fee.
- Fill in a short form: your services, suburbs, hours, prices, what counts as an emergency, personal contacts, how you take bookings, and your AI's name and greeting.
- We build your AI receptionist.
- You get your number, divert codes and a quick guide. The divert sends calls you miss, and calls that come in while you're busy, to your AI. No new business number needed.
- Make a test call. We fine-tune anything you'd like changed.
Prices in AUD. Pay the one-off setup fee to start. Your first month is free and your monthly fee starts from month two. Month-to-month, with 30 days' notice to cancel.
What your time on the phone is worth
Example: what 30 minutes a day on the phone adds up to
- 30 minutes a day × 5 days
- 150 minutes a week
- 150 minutes × 45 working weeks
- 6,750 minutes ≈ 112 hours a year
- 112 hours × $85 an hour
- about $9,520 a year of your time
- AI Receptionist Pro
- $299/month = $3,588 a year at full price.
Year one: $990 setup + 11 paid months ($3,289) = $4,279, with your first month free.
Your AI receptionist won't take every call off your hands, but each call it answers and books is time back. In this example that's up to $9,520 a year of time you could spend on billable work or finishing jobs sooner.
Illustrative only, based on 30 minutes a day of calls and an $85 hourly rate. Your numbers will differ.
Common questions
How is this different from voicemail?
Voicemail relies on the caller leaving a message, and not every caller will. Some simply ring the next business. Your AI receptionist actually answers, asks about the job and books it in while the customer is still on the phone. You get the details by text, not a message to listen to later.
What if my wife (or family) calls?
Add their numbers to your personal contacts (you can import them from your phone). If you miss their call, Sarah skips the job questions, takes a quick message, and you get a text so you know to ring them back.
Can I turn it off?
Yes, any time. Dial the cancel code on your phone and your calls go back to normal. Dial the divert code to switch it back on. Or set On holiday or Day off in the app and Sarah won't book anything until you're back. It's your call.
What does "30 days' notice" mean?
Your plan runs month-to-month. If you decide to stop, just let us know and the service continues for 30 days from your notice, then ends. You pay for those 30 days and nothing after that.
More questions
What if I'm already on a call?
Your AI receptionist picks up the next one, so no caller hits voicemail. It answers several calls at once. This works when the divert on your mobile is set for busy and unanswered calls. We give you the code during setup.
Does it book every caller?
No. It only books when the caller wants a job booked. Quotes, questions about an existing job and general enquiries are passed on to you as a message by text.
Can it answer every call, not just the ones I miss?
Yes. With the Full-Time AI Receptionist package, all your calls are forwarded to your AI receptionist, 24/7. Emergencies still alert you straight away, and personal contacts get a quick message taken. Every other package only answers the calls you miss, decline or can't take.
Do I need a new number?
No. Customers keep calling your existing number. Your missed calls divert to a number we set up for your AI receptionist (or all your calls, on Full-Time), so nothing changes for your customers.
How does "first month free" work?
You pay the one-off setup fee when you sign up. Your first month of service is free, and your monthly fee starts from month two. For example, on AI Receptionist you pay $590 setup, nothing more for the first month, then $199 a month from month two.
What if a call is an emergency?
You tell us what counts as an emergency during setup. When a caller describes one, your AI receptionist texts you straight away and gives the caller a safety tip. If anyone may be in danger, it tells them to get to safety and call triple zero (000). Emergency alerts are included in AI Receptionist, AI Receptionist Pro and Full-Time AI Receptionist.
Do I need a calendar app?
No. Your availability page is all you need: tap the times you're free and the AI books into them. If you'd rather confirm times yourself, it can just take the job details and text them to you.
Does it work for shops, salons and offices?
Yes. It can take over during set hours, such as a 12–1 pm lunch break, after you close, or whenever your receptionist switches the divert on. Bookings land in the same availability app. For clinics, it takes bookings and messages only and doesn't give medical advice.
